Ozobot Coding

Ozobots are programmable robots that provide students an engaging introduction to coding. They can be programmed in multiple ways, starting with color-coded markers for basic commands and progressing to block coding for more advanced projects.

Hour of Code
Copper Beech – Kindergarten, 150 students
Christine Steinmetz & Kathleen Bradbury – $391.93
Botley is a coding robot designed for early primary-aged students. During the Hour of Code, kindergarteners at Copper Beech will engage in hands-on activities to learn coding through developmentally appropriate and interactive methods.

Modern Music Pedagogy through Growth in Performance and Production
Abington Middle School & Senior High – Grades 6-12, 510 students
Kevin Longwill – $7,441.14
This grant supports Abington’s extracurricular modern music industry programs, M3 and M4, by providing additional materials to expand access for all students. These programs allow students to create, produce, and perform music while maintaining control over their intellectual property, fostering creativity and equitable access to resources.

Mindful Movement
Roslyn, Overlook – Grades K-5, 15-20 students
Enadia Elvidge – $390.00
This grant expands the Mindful Movement program from an after-school activity for 2nd graders to include all grade levels during recess hours. Funding for yoga mats ensures equitable participation for students at both Roslyn and Overlook schools.

R.E.C. PACs (STEM Literacy Backpacks)
Roslyn – Grades K-5, 500 students

The R.E.C. PACs (Read, Explore, Create) program provides backpacks filled with stories and STEM activities, making them accessible to all students, regardless of resources at home. This grant allows for the creation of additional backpacks to meet growing demand and continue inspiring students through hands-on learning.

Virtual Reality Trips
Senior High – Grades 9-12, 36 students to start
Giovanna Salas-Wert – $500.00
Spanish 3 students will use virtual reality to explore Spanish-speaking countries, such as touring a mosque in Spain, gaining immersive experiences in travel, tourism, and cultural appreciation.

Growth Lights
Senior High – Grade 9, 100 students annually
Galeet Cohen – $212.35
A set of LED grow lights will enhance Biology lessons by allowing students to conduct experiments on photosynthesis and genetics. These hands-on activities deepen understanding of experimental design and scientific processes.

Generation Genius
Abington Middle School – Grades 6-8, 15 students
Amanda Deni – $299.00
Generation Genius is an educational resource offering videos, lesson plans, and hands-on activities aligned with K-8 science and math standards. This grant provides engaging materials for science and math instruction.

Quilting Club – Quilts for Kids
Senior High – Grades 9-12, 10-15 students
Janice Jedlinski – $350.00
The Quilting Club creates quilts for children at St. Christopher's Hospital, offering comfort and a sense of home. This grant funds materials, making the project accessible to all student volunteers without financial burden.
